EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES

The Stanhope-Netcong American Legion Ambulance Corps. (SNALAC) provides FREE Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and additional 9-1-1 services to the Borough of Stanhope and the Borough of Netcong. SNALAC also responds to these types of incidents in our surrounding mutual aid areas. Our ambulance fleet, consisting of two BLS ambulances, are staffed by a combination of volunteer Drivers and a minimum of one Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at all times. Our fleet also consists of a First Responder Unit ensuring rapid response to any emergency call for service prior to the arrival of a BLS ambulance.

VEHICLE EXTRICATION

The Stanhope-Netcong American Legion Ambulance Corps. is, and has been since 1971, the primary provider for vehicle extrication services in Stanhope and Netcong. Sometimes, as the result of a motor vehicle accident the occupants cannot exit the vehicle without extrication. Extrication is the process of removing the occupants from the vehicle. Several SNALAC members are certified Vehicle Extrication Technicians and spend several hours, and even days, on training to maintain proficiency in this service. SNALAC owns and maintains several advanced extrication tools including hydraulic cutters and spreaders, hydraulic combination tools, “The Jaws of Life”, Res-Q-Jack struts, PowerHawk cutter/spreaders, blocks for stabilization, hand tools and more!

ICE RESCUE

The Stanhope-Netcong American Legion Ambulance Corps. provides ice rescue services in the event that a person or potentially an animal falls through the ice. SNALAC covers majority of Lake Musconetcong, and have responded to emergencies where the ice was just too thin. Multiple SNALAC members are trained at the Ice Rescue Technician and Ice Rescue Awareness level. SNALAC spends numerous hours in training to ensure that this low frequency event receives a professional and competent response.

REHAB OPERATIONS

The Stanhope-Netcong American Legion Ambulance Corps. provides rehabilitation services to our Fire Departments on the scene of structure fires. These events can be long and strenuous. By providing rehabilitation services, SNALAC ensures that first responders remain able to continue their emergency response and get the job done! Rehab services also allows for the reduction in medical emergencies during these types of incidents and quick identification if they were to occur. These types of incidents include: Structure Fires, Wild Fires, Hazmat Incidents, Natural Disasters, Mass Casualty Incidents, Search and Rescue Operations, and Extended Police Incidents.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

At Stanhope-Netcong American Legion Ambulance Corps. we find it a priority to have direct contact with our community outside of emergencies! SNALAC frequently provides education services to multiple daycares and schools to promote safety and educate the community on how to handle an emergency. SNALAC also provides support to all community events whenever possible!

EVENT STANDBY

When it comes to an emergency, every second counts. SNALAC frequently provides on-site services in case of emergency at multiple events within our jurisdiction including LVRHS Football and other sporting events, mass community gatherings, festivals, concerts, etc. This service ensures rapid deployment to a scene at a large event ensuring faster care in the event EMS services are needed.
